Left: The museum is located in a town square; this was a classic car event as I was coming into work. Middle: I spent a good amount of time organizing and cleaning, this was the finished product of a messy table. Right: Final set up for camp was adding tote bags and other items needed for the week.
Today started with the museums monthly volunteer meeting. During this meeting they discussed upcoming events, some of these included Millennial History Club, First Friday Ghost Tour for August, and Night at the Museum. They request assistance based on need during these meetings, and they also provided docent training for anyone needing extra help with the new exhibit. After the meeting I shadowed the curator during this training, I took this as an opportunity to learn more myself because I plan on volunteer when my internship is over.
Outside of my regular cataloging or artifact of the month research I helped with setting up next week’s summer camp titled Summer History Explorer’s Camp: Media 1940s-Now (my son will be at camp this week). Arranging tables, adding tablecloth, sweeping, and organizing the snack table. Zoey (the other intern) and I did a test scavenger hunt around the museum as part of preparation for camp as well which was really fun.
