Another day, another artifact, with other fun things in between of course. Week one summer camp kids are bit loud and the group size is a bit larger than they were expecting for the small workspace everyone uses but I would take this as a good sign that so many parents/children were interested in the program.

Since I am gearing up to finish my internship, I used my time to do a wide range of things. I would say halfway through the 10 weeks I was given a little more freedom to work on projects and miscellaneous tasks outside of the Belford Lumber Company collection. A big take away from the everyday work I have been doing is being able to just learn through conversation, there are so many stories and perspectives on the work being done in the museum and how they would like to grow and see things change.

I spent some time in the collection room checking out some of the other boxes of documents from the Belford Lumber Company collection. The image I shared of a wooden storage cabinet with so many drawers was given to the museum with all the documents inside. I personally would love to have something that big and beautiful in my home, organization is everything. I shared another image of 4 stacks of paper, that came from the box I was working on during my internship. For every document I cataloged there was a worksheet, once the information was added to PastPerfect those worksheets were removed from the folder and then those worksheets received a new home in the “Completed” filing cabinet in the downstairs collection for storage.

I shared another image, and blocked out the camper’s name, these will be presented to the kids tomorrow after they have completed their short performance.
