I arrived at the museum at 9am today, and things started off fairly normal. The workspace was busy since a group had been in the night before for the junk journal event, a fun activity the museum runs monthly.

Our volunteer Dan comes in three times a week to fill out document worksheets, noting each item’s description, date, and condition, this is for our Belford Lumber permanent collection. Since the space was a bit messy when I arrived, I helped put away the junk journal supplies so there’d be room for him to work. He was going through a folder with over 30 documents (considered a single item), we had a long conversation about it, since I’ll be the one entering his work into PastPerfect , a single entry with 30 documents can get messy and out of order fast if it’s not organized well from the start.

The education department was putting together an Instagram video to promote our upcoming showcase at Dell Diamond, and we spent some time brainstorming ideas together. I also got to join one of our docents on a tour of the courthouse. It used to house city employee offices, but that use has since ended, and it will soon become our new museum within the next year. Since it was empty, I got to see nearly every corner of it. While I was on the tour, the education department was outside filming their train bandit video.
