As an outsider looking in, and it only being my second day on the job, one thing that’s stood out to me is just how strong the sense of community is among the museum staff. Their workspace is one large, open area, with collaboration happening all day long. The director sits right there with everyone, chatting openly about what people are working on, it makes the whole space feel connected rather than siloed. I had my workstation with my computer and scanner, the education intern had her desk working on research for an upcoming event, the curator and education staff worked on their projects all at the same time.

I also got to see a small glimpse of a fun event first thing this morning, a princess-themed book reading titled “A True Bohemian Princess” by Jordan Patterson run by the education department. Staff dressed up as princesses, the author was signing book copies, and there were crafts for all the kids in attendance.

For me and my role, I sat at my station and worked through more cataloging. I spent most of the day just trying to get my groove going, the repetition was slightly sleepy but that could also just be me not used to the role. I took each catalog worksheet, gave it a title and location then entered its information into Pastperfect, scanned the document and uploaded it as well.

Same as the day before, this is the information I add to PastPerfect.
